Google Play subscriptions & beta testing
Subscribe, restore access, manage renewal, and recognize a test purchase before confirming checkout.
Joining the Android beta
- Apply at Join the beta. After approval, follow the Google Play opt-in link sent to you.
- Open the opt-in page with the Google account approved for testing, join the test, and follow its link to install VoltSyncra from Google Play.
- Create or sign in to your separate VoltSyncra account in the app. Confirm its email address when registering.
If Play says the beta is unavailable or access is denied, check which Google account is selected in the browser and Play Store. Ask support to verify that exact account is approved.
Subscribe in the Android app
- Open Account in the VoltSyncra header.
- Under Subscription, use Load plans / check purchases if needed.
- Choose monthly or annual. The app obtains localized prices from Google Play.
- Review the selected Google account, payment method, price, and renewal terms in Google's checkout before selecting Subscribe.
- Return to VoltSyncra and check the verification message. Use Refresh account status to check your access.
A VoltSyncra trial and a Google Play subscription are separate. Do not assume that starting checkout preserves the remainder of an app trial: the final Google Play terms determine when payment begins.
Internet is required for checkout, purchase verification, restoration, and account refresh. Pending payment does not unlock subscription access. Windows and Apple builds can refresh existing VoltSyncra access; this release adds new Google Play checkout and restoration on Android.
Two accounts, two different jobs
Your Google Play account owns the purchase and handles payment. Your VoltSyncra account, signed into the app at checkout, receives the verified access. Their email addresses do not have to match, and the Google billing address does not need a separate VoltSyncra registration.
Keep track of both accounts. To restore, use the same Google Play account and the original VoltSyncra account. Switching the device to another VoltSyncra account does not transfer its subscription.
Restore a purchase without paying again
Open Account → Restore purchases on Android. This checks purchases belonging to the current Google Play account and asks the server to verify access for the signed-in VoltSyncra account. It does not start a second checkout.
Use restoration after reinstalling, changing devices, or losing connectivity after checkout. If Play shows a completed order but VoltSyncra has not confirmed verification, restore before attempting another purchase. If nothing is found, check both account identities and contact support.
Change plans, cancel renewal, or update payment details
For an active subscription, Account shows the current plan and offers the other billing period. A plan change replaces the existing subscription rather than adding another one. The new price is charged at the next renewal; Google's checkout shows the final terms before confirmation.
Choose Manage in Google Play for cancellation, resubscription, and payment-method changes. Alternatively, open the Play Store, tap your profile, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → VoltSyncra.
Canceling renewal normally leaves access until the current paid period ends. Signing out, uninstalling the app, or requesting deletion of your VoltSyncra account does not cancel Google Play billing. Refund requests follow Google Play's refund process.
Beta membership is not license testing
The closed-beta group controls who can install the beta. License testing separately enables simulated billing. A test organizer must include the phone's purchasing Google account in Play Console's Settings → License testing and save the selected email list.
For an arranged billing test, look for Test card, always approves and Google's explicit notice that this is a test subscription and you will not be charged. If only a real payment method appears, cancel checkout and ask support to check your license-tester setup.
Test subscriptions use accelerated renewal periods, sometimes minutes rather than months. Google shows the test timing in checkout. A beta or admin access override can remain visible as Complimentary even when a test purchase is recorded.
Developers can test a connected debug build with a matching package name and a recognized license-tester account. Ordinary beta users should install from their approved Google Play link.
Common purchase problems
- “This version … is not configured for billing”
- For a debug/test build, first verify license-testing membership for the purchasing Google account. Beta membership alone is insufficient. Close and reopen VoltSyncra after the test organizer saves the settings.
- Payment pending
- Wait for Google Play to finish processing. Return to the app and restore the purchase. Do not buy again while payment is pending.
- Purchased, but no access
- Restore using the original VoltSyncra account, then refresh account status. Access also requires successful activation within that account's device allowance.
- No subscription in Google Play
- Check the other Google accounts on the phone. The account that owns the purchase may differ from your VoltSyncra login.
If the problem continues, send the exact app message and order number privately to support. Do not send payment-card details, passwords, or purchase tokens. See Diagnostics & Support.
