VoltSyncra Help

Victron Devices

VoltSyncra is intended to provide useful read-only monitoring for common Victron equipment while accommodating differences between product families and firmware generations.

Common Victron equipment

SmartShunt / BMV
Bank voltage, current, power, SOC, consumed amp-hours and related battery-monitor data where supported.
SmartSolar MPPT
Solar charger state and available battery/PV telemetry, depending on model and protocol.
Orion / DC-DC
Input/output and charger-state information on supported Smart models.
Inverter / Inverter-Charger
Support varies by product family. Larger VE.Bus/GX installations may expose data differently from standalone Bluetooth products.

Older Victron devices

Victron has used more than one Bluetooth data path across product generations and firmware versions. A device being visible in VictronConnect does not by itself prove that it supports every newer passive-advertisement feature.

VoltSyncra should detect the capabilities actually exposed by the device rather than assuming that all Victron products use one protocol. Older equipment may require a supported GATT/connected path while newer equipment may provide useful information through advertising.

Before troubleshooting VoltSyncra

  1. Confirm the device is visible and readable in VictronConnect.
  2. Record the exact Victron product name, model/part number, and firmware version.
  3. Close VictronConnect before testing an active BLE connection in VoltSyncra.
  4. Keep the phone/computer near the Victron device.
  5. Use VoltSyncra diagnostics to capture advertised services, GATT services/characteristics, and the exact failure stage.

VE.Smart Networking is different from VoltSyncra monitoring

VE.Smart Networking allows compatible Victron products to exchange selected measurements and coordinate charging. Seeing a Network option in VictronConnect does not necessarily indicate that a device exposes a particular third-party readout mechanism.

What to include in a Victron support report

  • Exact product name and part number.
  • Firmware version shown by VictronConnect.
  • Whether VictronConnect was fully closed during the test.
  • Android/Windows platform and OS version.
  • VoltSyncra scan result and detected BLE services.
  • The VoltSyncra error/details text and relevant log excerpt.
  • A screenshot of the values VictronConnect shows for comparison.
